Thanks!! This has not been clear from the general media coverage. Which shows, of course, how poor a job the MSM does of covering climate issues.

Has this always been seen as a possible "deal breaker"? Also, how do the other developing countries see this issue? The US press describes everything in a tri-partisan fashion, with the US and Europe/Japan being vaguely allied against China. (They sometimes mention India, but never seem very clear about how they are describing India's positions). How do the various activist groups see this issue? (I really don't recall anyone saying much about this in their general publications, I read a smattering of them).

Thanks again for responding.

To be fair, Patrick, MRV issues are not brought up in the last minutes. There have been different reads on the related text of the BAP for a long time.

Good information! Thanks guys!!

Have the developed countries committed to MRV? I read somewhere that they would not. What are other developing countries saying about this?

Why is the US so adamant about this issue? Is this part of the Washington China/communism phobia? (Can't trust those reds?) Is it a ploy to appeal to US voters who are afraid of jobs? Is it an excuse to sink the whole thing?

It seems strange that this new major requirement would come up at the last minute. Has this been brought up and discussed before?

Are there specific concerns about this on the part of the developing countries? (It sounds like they are angry because they thought most of this stuff had been agreed on, but suddenly the developed countries are coming up with new demands, instead of new pledges....).
